Who does the power company call when they lose power?
When PSEG loses power to one of its offices they call On Site Energy Co., Inc. the Northeast Rental Leader of Power & Temperature Control Equipment.
HILLSIDE, NJ, January 04, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- When the power goes off in your house and doesn't come back on right away you're probably like most people and you call the power company? Depending on where you live in NJ you might be calling Public Service Enterprise Group (PSEG) the old Public Service Electric & Gas Company (PSE&G) to find out what the status is? Well, when PSEG loses power to one of its offices they call On Site Energy Co., Inc. (OSEC), the Northeast Rental leader of Power and Temperature Control Equipment.
On December 25, 2008 PSEG lost a power feeder cable to one of its electric generating station's administrative offices. Although the plant was still able to produce electricity for their customers the plant offices were without power. At first blush that seems like an oxymoron but the electricity generated at the plant is such a high voltage that it can't be used for normal things like lighting, fax machines or heating (critical control systems are all on back-up emergency power). Normal operating power comes to the plant just like it would to a business or a home through a series of transformers and feeder cables. Like PSEG has done in the past during emergency situations they called On Site Energy Co., Inc. (OSEC) whose 24/7 live operators reached out to their engineering and operations people to assemble what was needed and deliver it to the plant on Christmas Day.
Joe Gere, Director of Business Development and NJ Operations was quoted as saying, "OSEC operated just like a PSEG, when people throw on a light switch they expect the light will light and if it doesn't PSEG is there to help them regardless of when. We are also a 24/7 company and when our customers like PSEG need help we are there regardless of calendar or weather." OSEC successfully delivered the right equipment and had continued to support PSEG throughout the holiday weekend. OSEC has a history of working with power companies in the Northeast; their clients include Con-Edison, Key Span, National Grid and JCP&L.
